GRANTS – Councilors at the end of October awarded nearly $3.5 million in road projects.

G. Sandoval Construction was awarded the first phase of the First Street project for $3.27 million. The city’s portion is $1.3 million.

The project is from Santa Fe Avenue to Washington Avenue and includes drainage, utility and road reconstruction.

Century Club Construction, who benefitted from the 10 percent veteran allowance, won the second road bid on Second Street for $204,373.

G. Sandoval was the low bidder, however, with a 10 percent veteran allowance, councilors granted it to Century Club.

The Second Street project will start on Monday, Nov. 12, and First Street will start once Second has been completed, which should be in December.
